Unity Sisters Soccer League Cancellation Policy for Inclement Weather

The safety of players, officials, and spectators is our top priority. This cancellation policy outlines how the league will handle situations involving inclement weather or other weather-related conditions that may impact scheduled games or events.

Reasons for Game Cancellation

Games or events may be canceled, delayed, or rescheduled due to the following weather-related conditions:

• Severe Weather Alerts: Including thunderstorms, tornado warnings, high wind warnings, or extreme weather conditions issued by local authorities.
• Lightning: If lightning is observed or detected within a 10-kilometer radius of the facility, games will be immediately suspended. Play may resume 30 minutes after the last lightning strike is observed.
• Snow and Ice: Conditions that make the playing surface unsafe, including excessive snow accumulation, icy fields, or dangerous driving conditions for participants.
• Heat Advisory: Games may be delayed, shortened, or canceled if temperatures or heat index levels are deemed unsafe for players' health.
• Flooding or Water Accumulation: If the playing field is flooded or otherwise unsuitable for safe play.

Decision-Making Authority

The decision to cancel or delay a game due to weather will be made by the league organizers in consultation with facility staff.

Referees may also suspend play during a game if weather conditions worsen unexpectedly.

Notification Process

Participants will be notified of cancellations or delays at least one hour before the scheduled start time, whenever possible.

Notifications will be sent via:

• Email
• League social media platforms
• Whatsapp USSL group

Rescheduling Policy

If a game is canceled due to inclement weather, the league will make every effort to reschedule it. However, rescheduling is not guaranteed due to limited facility availability and tight schedules.

No refunds will be provided for games canceled due to inclement weather or other acts of nature.

Player and Spectator Safety

Players and spectators are advised to monitor weather conditions and use their discretion when traveling to games during inclement weather.

For games played indoors, players are reminded to dress appropriately, as inclement weather may result in cooler indoor conditions.
